Ping Service
Overview
Overview Of Ping Service
The Ping Service is a service where your site is sent small bytes of data to a port of your choice. If your site receives and returns the data sent then your site is considered up and the time that it took to connect and sent the data is recorded. This service is recommended for server uptime and not website uptime as it will only determine if the server is up not if your website is actually being displayed correctly.
Options
Hostname and Port
The "Hostname" is the IP address or the hostname that is used to connect to the server your site is on. The "Port" is what port should be used to connect to your server. If you have a Dynamic IP address, check out DynDNS and create a free Dynamic IP account and then use that here!
Number Of Times
The "Number Of Times" is the number of times that your site is connected and sent the data, this is usually a low number. The connection time is on average and your server is considered up as long as one time it successfully connected.
